The XVII Congress of the Federation of European Societies of Plant Biology (FESPB 2010) will be held at the Valencia Conference Centre (Palacio de Congresos).

The Valencia Conference Centre is a unique building designed by Sir Norman Foster. In addition to its three main auditoria, the Valencia Conference Centre has numerous break-out rooms for small meetings, press rooms, a VIP lounge, interpreters' booths, exhibition area, café/restaurant, public telephone, cash machine, car park and garden area to name just some of the facilities on offer.

Each participant will receive a name badge upon check-in at the Registration Desk. The badge will be the official meeting document and should be worn at all times in order to be granted access to the meeting rooms.

A Business Centre with computer facilities is available at the desk of the Auditorium 1.

Lunches will be served in the Lunch Rooms 1 & 2, located on the 1st floor and in the Cafeteria located on the ground floor, at the time specified in the programme. Coffee breaks will be also provided during the Congress.

Luggage can be left during congress hours at the luggage deposit located at the desk of the Auditorium 1. The Organizing Secretariat and the Conference Centre are not responsible for any item left beyond duty hours.

This workshop is aimed at early-career researchers: postdoctorals and graduate students. During the workshop you will:

  • Recognise the skills and experience you have gained during your research and how to present yourself properly in a CV according to your next career move.
  • Identify opportunities for personal development.
  • Network with other delegates of the conference.

Speaker: Professor Cathie Martin, John Innes Institute

Talk title: Why do we need more women in science?

Cathie Martin is a group leader at the John Innes Centre, the leading plant research institute in Europe. She is Professor at the University of East Anglia and Niels Bohr Professor in the Faculty of Life Science, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Recently she has been co-ordinating research into how diet can help to maintain health and reduce the risk of chronic disease, and how crops can be fortified to improve diets. Her interests span from fundamental to applied plant science. She is Editor-in-Chief of The Plant Cell, and the first woman and the first non-American to hold this post.

__| REGISTRATION CANCELLATION POLICIES |___________________________________________________________________________

Refund of registration fees less 30% administrative charge will be granted if the cancellation is notified in writing to GRUPO GEYSECO S.L. prior to APRIL 1, 2010. After this date, no refund can be made for cancellations. All refunds will be made after the congress.

__| HOTEL BOOKING CANCELLATION POLICIES |_________________________________________________________________________

Any modification or cancellation in hotel bookings has to be notified in writing to the organizing secretariat prior to APRIL 1, 2010. 30% administrative charge will be applied for any modification or cancellation. After this date, no modification is possible and no refund can be made for cancellations. All refunds will be made after the congress.

__| LETTER OF INVITATION |__________________________________________________________________________________________

Upon request, the congress organisers will be pleased to send a personal letter of invitation to enable participants to obtain supporting funds or visas for attending the congress.These invitation letters cannot be considered as an offer of financial support by the organisers.

__| VISA AND PASSPORTS |___________________________________________________________________________________________

EU citizens need only their national identity document. Carrying passport is, however, recommended for EU citizens. Citizens from most other countries will need a valid travel passport. They are encouraged to contact their local Spanish embassy or consulate to enquire about the need for visa application.

__| TRAVEL GRANTS FOR STUDENTS FROM CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPE |__________________________________________________

The Federation of European Societies of Plant Biology (FESPB) offers Travel Grants for post-graduate students from member Countries in Central and Eastern Europe to attend the 2010 FESPB Congress in Valencia, Spain. Thirty grants will be available on a competitive basis. Reimbursement of travel expenses and accommodation costs will be provided up to a maximum of 600 Euros immediately after the conference. For this purpose the Grantees should send to the Treasurer of FESPB by registered mail the original documents (ticket receipt, boarding cards, hotel receipt) together with a Reimbursement Form provided at the Congress duly filled. Registration fees will be paid by FESPB directly to the Organizing Committee. Please keep a copy of all documents sent for your own records.
Applicants should be registered at a European University as graduate students (masters or doctorate) in Plant Biology. They should also be residents in one of the following countries: Albania, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Moldavia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine, Serbia/Montenegro. The country should be FESPB member and should have paid the respective fees.
Successful applicants will be expected to arrange their own travel. They will also be responsible for booking their own accommodation either through their local travel agent or preferably through the Accommodation Booking Form to be found on the website of the Congress (organizers will reserve low cost rooms for the Grantees). Successful applicants will also be expected to present poster papers.

The SEBBM (Sociedad Española de Bioquímica y Biología Molecular) offers 6 travel grants of 200 € to its members.

Requirements:
- to be registered at the congress
- to be under 31
- to be member of the society
